Here it is… the milestone I thought was still months away. What can I say? Time over the past year has flown by.

My first year at GANDT Ventures

It’s now been one year since I joined the GANDT team on many adventures. I’d have to say it’s a decision I don’t regret. Over the past year, I have been working alongside extremely creative and smart individuals that have helped me find my voice.

How it all started

Before GANDT, I was working in a corporate environment without a digital-first mindset. Having come from a background in digital-first start-ups, I knew that ultimately I wanted to go back to working in a digital environment. That’s when I found out about GANDT. A close friend saw someone shared a job opportunity online. I decided to share it with me since it seemed like something I’d be interested in. She was right, it was exactly what I was looking for.

A few days after my application, I met part of the GANDT Team during a first interview. From the first meeting, while I was a little intimidate by the knowledge the team holds, I knew that this could be a great place for me to work. Why it clicked? I realized that we all come from similar backgrounds and have a digital mindset.

Looking back: my first months

When I joined GANDT, I was lucky to join a project that I am still to date supporting. From day one, I felt that I had an important role in the team and that a lot of trust and confidence was put into me. To say I wanted to hit the ground running is probably the closest I can get to explaining how I felt.

In the first months, I wanted to show the team my knowledge, but also learn from the very talented individuals I get to work with every day. Learning and development are very much encouraged by GANDT, which allowed me to expand my knowledge in a short amount of time. I knew that I wanted to take a deep-dive in all things SEO and Content Marketing. The team did nothing but encourage me in wanting to learn these skills. I started out by joining the HubSpot Academy and earning their Content Marketing Certification. In addition, I have been taking SEO courses and learning skills whenever I can. The everchanging digital world, I appreciate that we are encouraged to develop our skills and stay up to date with the latest developments. In the end, it’s what helps us deliver our best work to the clients.

Finding my voice

When I joined GANDT, I was shy and doubted myself more than I should. Being an extroverted introvert, I found it difficult to open up as much as I should. Self-doubt was always in the back of my mind. I was scared to disappoint with my work.

As time went on, I found my confidence. My learning plan helped me reinforce the skills that I already had, ultimately making me more comfortable with my opinions and advice. Today, I feel very comfortable in my role and know where my strengths and weaknesses lie. Knowing where my weaknesses are, has allowed me to work with the team in different ways and push me to ask for help when I need it.

In conclusion

Today, I am thankful for the way we work together as a team. I know that I can reach out to everyone in the team and get their input or feedback on certain tasks. The collaboration that I experience on a daily basis is what makes this experience one of the best I’ve had. The way we collaborate helps us create our best possible output and tailor it to the specific needs of our clients.

Working with this team has helped me learn to always be myself. So my takeaway from this year is to always be yourself. Your knowledge and personality are worth more than you’d expect.

Be yourself, unapologetically.
