The relevance of Shopify

In 2006 Tobi Lüdke founded Shopify, today one of the largest online shop platforms in the world. He actually only wanted to create an online shop for a snowboard shop.

His goal was to program his own platform out of his dissatisfaction with the sales processes. Thus, he wanted to offer the customer a convenient way to sell products online. Furthermore, the seller should also benefit by removing technical hurdles.

Today, 1,000,000 companies already rely on the e-commerce all-in-one platform Shopify to sell their products.

Shopify has a very modern structure and is therefore easy to use in the backend. Furthermore, the software can be used perfectly on any device. As a result, it is easier to get into online trading and sell your goods relatively quickly, be it via the web shop, on marketplaces such as Amazon, Ebay etc. or in social media.

TikTok reaches 2 billion downloads – what marketing potential is behind it?

Tiktok is a Chinese video sharing service and was founded in September 2016 by the startup ByteDance.

Since many people had to reorganize their leisure activities during the Covid-19 period, we also see an increase in traffic on social media channels. Consequently, the big newcomer – the video sharing app TikTok was also tried out more often.

The Chinese app is experiencing enormous growth and counts more than 2 billion downloads worldwide in both App Stores, Google Play and Apple.

In the first quarter of the year, TikTok has already been downloaded 315 million times. For comparison – the popular Messenger Whatsapp brought it to almost 250 million downloads in the first quarter of 2020.

TikTok’s main sales market is China, where 72.3 % of total revenues are generated to date.

The mentioned 2 billion downloads have to be put in relation to each other, because the downloads of the Chinese version of the app called Douyin are also included.

And unlike the YouTube or Gmail app, TikTok is not pre-installed on most smartphones and tablets. Therefore it is not possible to make a realistic comparison with the Google universe using the downloads here.
